The basic principle of pressure swing adsorption device (PSA) is based on the principle of physical adsorption. It uses specific adsorbents (such as zeolite molecular sieves) to have a much greater adsorption capacity for impurities such as nitrogen than oxygen under pressure, thereby achieving oxygen separation and purification. During the adsorption process, as the pressure changes, the amount of nitrogen adsorbed by the adsorbent will also change, thereby achieving continuous production of oxygen.
Working principle of pressure swing adsorption device
Adsorption process: The raw air enters the adsorbent bed after being pressurized by the blower, nitrogen is adsorbed, and oxygen is enriched through the top of the adsorber. When the adsorber reaches a certain pressure, the product oxygen flows out from the top of the adsorber and enters the oxygen buffer tank.
Forward decompression: After the adsorption is completed, the oxygen content of the gas above the adsorber is high, and this part of the gas is discharged forward to the low-pressure adsorber.
Vacuum desorption: After the forward decompression is completed, the pressure of the adsorber is further reduced by vacuuming, and the desorbed nitrogen is extracted and discharged.
Cleaning: Before the vacuum reaches the minimum desorption pressure, oxygen is passed into the adsorber from the top, and vacuum is drawn from the bottom at the same time to further desorb the adsorbed nitrogen.
Equalizing and boosting pressure: After the regeneration is completed, the adsorber that has completed the adsorption is fed with gas from the top, and the adsorber is boosted at the same time to prepare for the next cycle of adsorption.
Application fields of pressure swing adsorption devices
Pressure swing adsorption devices are widely used in many fields, including medical, chemical, steel, aerospace, etc. In the medical field, high-purity oxygen is of great significance for emergency treatment and treatment; in the chemical field, oxygen participates in a variety of chemical reactions as an important reactant; in the steel field, blast furnace oxygen-enriched coal injection ironmaking, electric furnace steelmaking and other processes all require a large amount of oxygen; in the aerospace field, the operation of aircraft, rockets and other aircraft also requires high-purity oxygen.
